You have questions. We have answers.

See below for answers to some of the most common questions we are asked. If you don't see an answer to your question, please feel free to contact us.

Paratransit (also called demand-response) is comprised of passenger cars, vans or small buses operating in response to calls from passengers or their agents to the transit operator, who then dispatches a vehicle to pick up the passengers and transport them to their destinations. For a more detailed description, see the Paratransit Information Page of our Website.

PEAC (pronounced “peak”), which stands for Paratransit Education and Advocacy Collaborative, is a project of the Texas Citizen Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas. We are a three-year project funded by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities. PEAC is a statewide organization, working specifically in and around four Texas communities: Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, and Tyler.

Our primary goal is to increase the quality, quantity, and access to customer-centered public transportation services, specifically paratransit services that viably link persons with disabilities to the ingredients of the lives they desire to live in Texas Communities. We do this by helping people advocate for themselves, advocating and assisting in travel training efforts, and to addressing systemic issues that will increase access to paratransit and other transportations resources for people with disabilities.

Because every community is unique in their needs, we encourage you to contact us so we can collaborate and design a specific plans that meet your unique transportation needs.

Simply asking the question is a positive sign to us that you have the energy and desire to organize in your community. While we might not have the resources to help you right away, we will be very happy to talk to you about ways you can build a local grassroots network.

You can currently search for information about Paratransit providers in three ways: by searching by county, by city, and if you know the provider name, selecting them among the list of providers we have created for the site.

If you want to choose the area by map, you can click any county in our Texas map and it will tell you which providers have service that county.

If you cannot find the city you are looking for in our drop-down list, or there is no listing for the city you select, try searching the county instead.

If you cannot find any services in the county you select, please contact us for additional support.

The Provider Page has a variety of categories ranging from basic contact information, the area in which they provide rides, and downloadable copies of their Rider Guides and organizational policies. Not all of the pages offer that complete range of information, however, because we did not receive all the information we requested from every Provider we contacted. If you find errors in the information we have posted, or know of newer versions of the downloadable materials, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Most of our website is accessible to any person without having to sign in or provide personal information. To make comments on our website, however. you will have to set up a user account. This is a very easy process. On our homepage, on the right column below the category of User Login, go to “Create New Account.” After, that, follow the prompts asking for a login name, email address, and password. This will be the only identifying information you’ll have to share with PEAC. IF you’d like for us to contact you in the future, or put you on our periodic emailing list for future events, you are welcome to go to our Contact Page.

Never. In fact, we will only contact you if you request that we do through our contact page located here on the website.
